Support for PROFFAST EM27 retrievals

Getting access

The PROFFAST retrieval for EM27s can use TCCON meterology model (.mod) and a prior (.map) files, which can be downloaded from Caltech. Details on how to request these are in non-public pages on this wiki, and you must be given an account on the Caltech server to request these files. To request access to both the wiki and Caltech server, please send an email to Coleen Roehl (coleen@caltech.edu) and CC your point of contact with the PROFFAST team (i.e. the person who directed you to obtain the .mod and .map files). In this email, you should request: "an account on the TCCON Wiki and access to the Ccycle FTP server to request .mod and .map files to use with EM27 PROFFAST retrievals." Please specify which email address you want associated with these accounts. Note that the wiki account and Caltech server will have different login credentials.

Requesting .mod and .map files

Instructions on connecting to the Caltech server via FTP are given here.

You should check with your PROFFAST point of contact whether you need GGG2014 or GGG2020 .mod and .map files. This refers to the version of the TCCON retrieval that these files are created for - GGG2020 introduced a substantial change to how the a priori profiles and meteorology files are computed, so using the wrong version will make your retrievals inconsistent with other PROFFAST users.
  • Instructions to request GGG2020 .mod & .map files are given here. You will need to follow the "Custom locations" instructions.
    • Note that there are important differences between the GGG2014 and GGG2020 .map files (primarily reporting wet rather than dry mole fractions).
  • Support for GGG2014 .mod & .map files ended 1 May 2024.
